Friends of the MAS
Overview
In the fall of 2023, the Maslowski Center embarked on a wonderful initiative by establishing a group of dedicated volunteers to support fundraising efforts for various projects and upgrades within the facility. Thanks to the collaborative efforts of numerous professionals, generous donations from the community and members, as well as grants from Sourcewell, the Friends of the MAS has achieved remarkable progress!

Current Project
The Friends of the MAS are currently working on a project to help bring an indoor play area to the facility! The success of the indoor play area at the Community Center in Perham inspired the project. The Friends want to give parents and kids another option of things to do in Wadena, especially during wintertime.
The new playset will be funded through a mix of grants and generous contributions from the Friends of the Maslowski. The Friends are inviting community members to join in supporting this exciting project. You can become a sustaining sponsor—details are provided below. If you’d prefer to make a one-time donation, simply click the button below to help the Friends of the Maslowski bring more fun to the wellness center.

Refurbishing of the Waterslide
The Friends of the MAS helped raise funds to refurbish the waterslide, as it was showing wear and tear and could be a safety issue. Wadena State Bank provided a generous $80,000 donation to the Friends and Sourcewell also provided $30,000 in funding with a 25% match.

Become a Sustaining Sponsor!
Prepared by the Friends of the Maslowski Center, a 501 (c) (3) organization:
A lot has been happening here at the Maslowski Center. It may seem hard to believe but we had our eleven-year anniversary in 2025! The Maslowski Center has become an integral part of the fabric of our community. In order to maintain a top tier facility, we have formally organized an advisory group called "Friends of the Maslowski Center." We see ourselves as a liaison between the community and the administrative staff of the facility. Members and other community stake holders always have ideas on how the Maslowski Center can better serve the community. Likewise, the administration wants to get the word out on programming and the critical needs of the facility.
In the short time that the "Friends of the Maslowski Center" have been active, we see that increased financial support is going to be necessary to maintain a first-rate facility. The recent upsurge in inflation has increased costs substantially. Soon, we will need to replace much of the original equipment such as lockers, treadmills, pumps for the pool system, etc. This being a working class community, it is not possible to increase membership fees enough to cover all these increased expenses. The City of Wadena budgets $125,000 per year in financial assistance, so it would be difficult to expect more from the City.
When the Maslowski Center was originally built local contributions exceeded $4,000,000, so we know how generous our community can be. For this reason, we are reaching out to you at this time to become a sustaining sponsor.
A sustaining sponsorship is a totally voluntary tax-deductible contribution to provide additional financial support over and above your regular membership fees. While you will receive special recognition, and you will have the opportunity to provide input through the Board, it does not change your current regular membership status.
